Church Vision

Last night, we began to discuss the proposed vision statement for the
church "*Transforming our Community one Heart at a time*." I believe this
is God's heart for our church.

The first word in the vision statement is *transforming. *To be
transformed is to be changed. Spiritual transformation refers to what
happens in us as the Holy Spirit works to shape (conform) us into the image
of Jesus (Romans 8:29). It is the Potter shaping the clay into the vessel
he wants it to be.

Paul writes in Romans 12:2 "Do not be conformed to this world, but be
transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern
wh.at is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."

If transformation is to occur, it must begin with me. There is absolutely
no way that transformation can happen in this church, or in the community
where God has placed us, if I don't allow God to change me from the inside

Eugene Peterson in *The Message *paraphrases Romans 12:2 as "Don't become
so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even
thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the
inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond
to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its
level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed
maturity in you."

My prayer is, "Lord, transform my heart; change me from the inside-out."
Please join me in that prayer and ask God to transform you. We can
accomplish the vision "*Transforming our Community one Heart at a Time"*
as he changes us one heart at a time.
